Hello World

Welcome to the @TwkNYC website. We are so glad you found us!

You may very well already be acquainted with Rotation Curation and @TWkUSA@TWkNYC‘s elder sibling. But for those of you who have just stumbled upon this grand experiment in increasing global understanding and communication — one tweet at a time, person to person, people to people — allow us to give you a brief primer.

The @TWkNYC and @TWkUSA projects grew out of the larger Twitter-based Rotation Curation movement.  Both projects are unabashed, but respectful, American localizations of @Sweden’s remarkable Twitter experiment. The idea behind the Rotation Curation movement is that every week a new curator from each project is given (virtually*) unfettered access to the account to tweet to a global following from her or his individual point of view as a member of the project’s focus community, be it a geographic locale or a particular cultural or interest group. (For a current list of all Rotation Curation projects, click here.)

But wait, there’s more! There’s a twist to the @TWkNYC and @TWkUSA projects! While the @Sweden program is an official, state-administered campaign that appoints its citizens as world ambassadors to illuminate and elaborate what could be considered the Swedish brand, the purpose of the grassroots @TwkUSA and @TWkNYC programs is to afford US citizens and residents the opportunity to exchange their perspectives and opinions and to provide a forum where other citizens of Planet Earth may engage them as well.

Each week, beginning on Sunday 9:00 pm EDT, another resident of the great city of New York will have uncensored posting privileges from the @TwkNYC Twitter account.

E pluribus unum — it’s a global value.
